My dear friends,

So I am finally hanging up my rucksack, hopefully for a few months in one of my favourite places in the world and near to transport links to family and friends - including Wimbledon!

In my latest books I think there'll be a lot of quotes from "Pretty Woman" (a mung bean self-help book with quotes from "Pretty Woman"!!!)  The one I often think of is "I can do anything I want, I ain't lost."  Anyway, I have thought a lot about "settling", because I've toyed with the idea sometimes but it just didn't feel right and I know there were times when to have stopped would have been to give up on the PhD, but now I feel it serves me to have the same bed for more than a few nights, and what I've learned, the practice that I needed to learn and instill in myself and in my body - well, it can and should be practiced everywhere I think.  I no longer need to be in weird and wonderful places to do it. 

I really, really hope I've found the perfect place, the perfect base for me to take the next step.  And in the words of "Pretty Woman" when Richard Gere says he wants to put his pretty woman up in a nice flat to get her of the streets - "That's just geography."  Hopefully I can still be at peace, at home, myself, here, there, wherever I am.

It may be a terrible mistake, but I am SOOOO looking forward to making it even if it is one!

P.S. The pic is not my house - it's actually Plum Village in south west France - a Buddhist commune set up by Vietnamese monks - a haven of no drinking, no smoking, no swearing, no shouting, mindful eating, veganism and respect.  But I still stayed at the Chateau up the road - it had a hot tub.  (And my own bathroom!)

Wherever we are we can be at home, and find peace.
