Dear Friends,
One of my teachers says that your communications should be consistent... but life isn’t consistent. Or should that be Life isn’t consistent. Doing some fact checking for another new book (the 2018 edition of my spa treatment, healing and massage guide) I found myself reading something I’ve seen before about biorythms and how we need our rest and renewal phases. Like the earth, there is a time for planting new seeds, a time for things to unfurl under the surface, a time for precious green shoots, a time for sturdy oaks, and a time for harvesting, enjoying the fruit, as well as a time for preparing for bed, hibernation, even a longer fallow period. It all happens perfectly when we listen to our mind, body and spirit and not just to a metronome clicking out a perfect automated rhythm. We are not robots. (But even robots have downtime.)
So here’s to the harvest - I make no apologies for a rush of fruits (and laugh as I remember my family’s reaction during the summer to the bounty of one passionate plum tree “Not more plums.”)
And here’s to my new book - which teaches (the best way I possibly could using just a book) what it means to unconditionally love each other. I’ve felt for a long time that my biggest question in life was understanding what it means to love and be loved. So for me, this was the end of an epic journey. (Don’t worry there’s another four volumes at least of this story - just as soon as I figure my way around telling the truth without getting people fired.)
The first volume of this story was “Camino de la Luna - Take What you Need”. The back cover explains:
“This is a book for people who wake up at 5am (or 4am or 3am) worrying. Maybe you don’t call it worrying, maybe you call it planning or organising. Sometimes it is helpful. Sometimes genius and the truth arrives at this time. But sometimes it is just your mind or your ego spinning lies, keeping you awake, freaking out your body, making you sick, torturing you, trying to keep you small. I've been there. Years, months and just hours ago. And it is so wonderful to get over it, to be able to choose to get up and use this time to greet the dawn, to get clarity and change my life, or to soothe the beast and be able to go back to sleep in peace, and wake again knowing that there is nothing to be afraid of, that I am life and my life is perfect and we are all perfect. This is a book about faith, about adventure, about living with my heart open and letting go of the fear of being myself.
In June 2016 I decided to sell my house of 22 years and leave my comfort zone. I had no idea where I would go next, but slowly the Camino de Santiago showed itself and I decided, with no rucksack or hiking experience to start...”
...which then leads into the new book “Camino de la Luna - Unconditional Love”
“In June 2016 I decided to sell my house of 22 years and leave my comfort zone. Slowly the Camino de Santiago showed itself and I decided, with no rucksack or hiking experience to start... But that’s another story, the one that led to this one.
My Camino in Spain taught me to let go of everything I didn’t need, to travel light and wash my clothes in the shower, but most importantly it taught me to trust my heart and my feet, to let my journey unfold naturally, instinctively, intuitively.
In the words of the theme song from my favourite TV show, “Nobody knows where they might end up” when they follow their heart.
Riding high on reaching the true destination of my Camino I raced to the airport to leave a country I had fallen in love with but which I’d had enough of (for the moment). There were two flights out that night; Seattle or Vancouver.
Which country would I end up in next?
My heart was calling me to Seattle, the Emerald City, the home of my TV family, but it all depended on my cab driver and how fast I could run with a loaded rucksack.”
It will take a little while for the book to be available on Amazon so you can order direct from me if you’d like a paperback, and it’s also available as a downloadable pdf from Lulu. (See below for more details on each book.)
Right, back to work, those plums won’t pick themselves.
Lots of love, Pearl x
