I love the Eurostar, it’s just 2 hours 15 minutes on the fastest trains direct from the centre of London to the centre of Paris, what’s not to love?

I also find it’s one of the best modes of transport to relax and get a little snooze, and the toilets and buffet car are generally fairly decent.  Having said that I’ve learned not to rely too heavily on either.  Don’t wait until the last minute to go to the loo and generally I try to take a sandwich with me.

The downside of such swift, popular transport is that tickets go pretty fast, so try and book as early as you can or you can easily be paying double the original fare within days - as happened to us.  However we’d already waited a year to make the trip so I pressed the book button anyway!

Kids under 12 are much cheaper, so it’s worth trying to take your trip while they are younger, and under 4s go free - all making a big difference to the overall cost of your trip.

The Eurostar terminal at London St Pancras has great shops - then a very limited selection once you check in, but there is a great area where you can charge your electronic devices using either a European or UK plug!

The terminal in Paris also has a wider selection of shops before the check-in and then for some reason, never enough seats.  But at least it has a few sandwich shops and a Haagen-Daazs to keep the kids happy!

To try and find the best days to travel you can use their travel finder page, but then you need to go back to the main booking page if you want to book children’s seats (and it is a bit clunky!)

It’s also well worth checking the prices via Last Minute, Expedia and even on the Disneyland website as you may well find cheaper prices or more suitable times especially if you book your hotel at the same time, although I booked direct with Eurostar this time.
