The Peak, Hong Kong

The view from here is breathtaking - we got there at dusk, but had to taxi it up as the queue for the tram was ridiculous.  It was wonderful to see eagles coasting by, and as we tried to walk up to Victoria Peak Garden to catch the Symphony of Lights we could hear all the sounds of the rainforest, whilst walking past some of the most incredibly opulent houses I’ve seen outside of Cannes and, well Surrey.

Anyway, unfortunately soon it got a little steep and a little dark, and with taxis whipping round the corners at speed we decided to take it easy and head back down to the main bit to see the Symphony of Lights.

We grabbed something to eat, bought some very cheap tickets to the top of the Peak Tower.  Then the Symphony started - what a let down.  Like watching some Lego slowly change colour.  Hmmm.  We tried to take a few photos - and then went for a drink at the Peak Lookout - which was just lovely and it has a fab terrace.  If we had had time we would have liked to come back to see the views in the day time, but there is just so much to see and do in Hong Kong!

The trip down on the Peak Tram was worth the wait, but we were kind of glad we went up in a cab as seeing the view from the top was amazing and in the tram you are slowly going up, so it’s a gradual amazement, as opposed to our “wow” moment when we got our first look at the skyline!

Don’t get me wrong, some of these are excellent, but I couldn’t, in good conscience give them a Pearl Recommendation.  Sometimes they were just beaten to the punch, or I couldn’t decide a clear winner, other times they had a lot right, but I felt they just weren’t there.  I don’t really want to give bad reviews, but anything I felt was really best avoided you’ll find in the Jellyfish section.
