Information as at September 2010

One of my favourite toilets of the whole trip to China (and yes I do realise how weird that sounds) was my Chinese Princess Throne in our hotel room at Yangshuo Mountain Retreat - what’s not to love about a loo with double doors and a handcrafted loo roll holder?

If you’re okay with a squat toilet, the village loos in Yulong Village (1 yuan - 10p a go) where you use a bucket to flush, are clean in an old fashioned way.

In the Moon Hill area, the squat toilets at the cafe at the base of the hill are very clean, but if you prefer something a bit more upmarket head to the Yangshuo Village Inn and the Luna Restaurant for a pit stop.

Places to avoid are anywhere in West Street and the loos at the Yima river crossing - horrid.
