Destination Spa

The strict definition of destination spa would be the kind of spa that I dream of; secluded, selective, the kind of place where you book in for a week and through a programme of activities they give you back your life.  Food, exercise, massage, even planned excursions to put you in the very best of health.

Of course these spas still exist (and I still dream of them) but many of these destination spas also offer à la carte packages, which, strictly speaking, makes them resort or hotel spas.

Let's face it, destination spa sounds better and the term is often used now for incredible spas that are just well, worth travelling to.

Some of the most famous destination spas are Ananda in the Himalayas, The BodyHoliday in St Lucia and Como Shambala Estate, Bali, however if this kind of holiday appeals to you then don't forget that one of the most popular areas for the stay and get well concept is Eastern Europe, with many affordable health centres offering accommodation and treatment packages.  They may not throw petals on your bed but they're definitely worth a look.
