This is based on a guided visualisation that I did with my therapist - who is fantastic with these. This meditation is one that I use at many times, particularly when I am confused or lacking direction.
Close your eyes, and breathe in gently through your nose, filling up your lungs, and then exhale through your mouth, expelling all the breath in your body. Take a few deep breaths and then continue, more gently, in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Focus on your breath, letting go of other thoughts.
Imagine a beautiful garden. This is your garden so it can take any shape you like, perhaps there are lawns, perhaps there are flowers, trees to relax under, perhaps a lake or waterfall. The garden is whatever you want it to be depending on your mood.
As you walk through the garden relax, breathe in the soothing air, enjoy the flowers, feel at peace.
Whenever and wherever you decide to stop and sit, or lie down in your garden, imagine a person beside you. This person is you. They are you exactly as you would choose to be, this is your perfect self, kind, patient, understanding, loving.
Relax and enjoy the company of this self.
When you are ready, talk to this person. You can ask them anything you like, understanding that they know you and want only good things for you.
I really hope that this particular meditation helps you as much as it has helped me. What I have found more often than not, with this meditation, is that the advice I receive is very often to stop trying so hard and just relax and enjoy myself - but whatever answers come from this, it is wonderfully reassuring to learn that all of the answers were inside of you already.
